THIS METHOD IS FOR ALL MOBILE OPERATORS
Telecom operators in India are very well known for activating services without the consumer’s consent. This happens mostly to prepaid subscribers. The consumers usually come to know about this when their prepaid balance is deducted for some services they didn’t apply/opt for.
To deactivate VAS he/she contacts customer services which are sometimes a big waste of time. The call centre executives proffer some lame reasons and solutions, which is at times irritating.
So if you are tired of contacting these call centres and want some easy solution then you came to the right place….
In order to restrict telcos from forceful activation of VAS, DOT(Department of Telecommunications) has dedicated a service to help subscribers. While the service was announced way back in 2013, very few subscribers seem to be informed about it.
Follow these simple steps to use this service
- Send SMS typing “STOP” to 155223, this is a toll-free number.
- You’ll receive a reply about your request, asking you to wait while they check your active VAS.After few seconds, you’ll receive a list of activated VAS packs(if any) or this above message.
It is a good practice to check VAS subscriptions every now and then to avoid unnecessary balance deductions.
