Windows 10 Start Menu Not Working

Start Menu which has returned in a new look with Windows 10 hasn’t been smooth sailing for everyone, and one common complaint is that the Start menu stops working for no apparent reason.

So this hack is for everyone who are suffering from this problem.

1.Restart Your Computer

One of the most popular and well-known solution to any technical problem is RESTARTING/REBOOTING the system and it has been proven to work in a large number of cases. Also, it’s also the easiest method. So restart your system(maybe a couple of times) and your problem might have gone.

2.Create a New User Profile

Another temporary solution that has worked for some people is creating a new user account. This isn’t the best solution, but if  you don’t want to mess around with command line then this can help you continue your thing.

3.Use Command Line

If you can handle working in command line then this is the straightforward method to solve this window menu bug.

All you’ve to do is:

  • Open Command Prompt(admin).
  • Enter “powershell” then press ENTER.
  • Then run the System File Checker i.e” sfc /scannow”.This may take some time but will end up with one of the three results

a)Windows didn’t find any Integrity Voilation.

b)Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and repaired them.

c) Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some (or all) of them.

If you get the last one then

  • In command prompt(admin) enter powershell again and press ENTER.
  • Then enter or copy-paste the following

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Wait until the app download and installation process completes — ignore any red text that appears — and restart Windows.
